If you’re stuck…

take 10 minutes and write a prompt. Here are a few to jog your writing muse:

• You’ve invited friends for dinner. While you’re cooking dinner, one of them confides a private matter. Use dialogue.

• You are tucking in your child/niece/nephew or a child you know. You have a conversation. What do you say?

• Write a memorable scene from your childhood.

• Who is/was your hero? What do you admire about them?

• Describe someone famous from your culture. How did they become famous?

• Think about a time when you were scared. Write a scene about what happened.

• Write a confession. What secret thing have you done that you’re ashamed of admitting?

• Take a character from a story you’ve written or in the process of writing. Write a scene in which the character interacts with you. Use dialogue.
